Investment and programme value review
Check whether the proposed programme can support the intended business outcome, and how the business will own, measure and capture the benefit.
Implementation and value realisation need separate scrutiny
A programme can deliver its technology scope without delivering the expected financial outcome. Adoption, process change, supplier terms and retirement of old systems can determine whether operational improvements become economic benefits.
Our review examines the connections between the business case, solution scope, operating model and delivery assumptions. It gives decision-makers questions to resolve before approving an investment or the next programme phase.
What we examine
- The business constraint, outcome and performance baseline.
- The capability and operating model changes needed to achieve that outcome.
- Solution scope, exclusions, dependencies and delivery assumptions.
- Costs, adoption requirements and the mechanism for capturing benefits.
- Accountability for technical delivery and business value.
- Measures, evidence requirements and review points.
Two practical working tools
Value-capture worksheet: identifies the performance improvement, how it could convert into financial or other enterprise value, the associated costs and the evidence needed. It is an assessment aid, not a legal contract.
Value ownership charter: distinguishes the person accountable for delivery from the business owner accountable for the outcome. It also identifies who validates benefit assumptions and when decisions should be revisited.
What you receive
A trace from outcomes to capabilities, operating model and solution scope; a register of material assumptions; questions for partners and decision-makers; and a proposed value scorecard with owners and review points.
What this review does not promise
We do not guarantee investment returns or certify a business case. Targets and benefit estimates require client evidence and finance validation. The Enterprise Value Framework and its associated tools are working methods, not independently validated standards.
